This handcrafted dining table was custom built for my clients Connecticut home, using reclaimed American Chestnut which is a rare and highly sought after hardwood species that’s been extinct for nearly a century. Each element was salvaged from various dismantled structures in Connecticut and carefully reworked to highlight the natural characteristics and rich patina that can only come with age.
Designed with a classic trestle style base, the table maximizes seating without sacrificing legroom or flow, making it ideal for gatherings. The 6" tongue and groove breadboard ends add both structure and symmetry, subtly transforming the overall silhouette. A satin black stretcher, made from boiler pipe, completes the base by introducing a clean and modern element that contrasts beautifully with the rustic warmth of the wood, finished with a VOC free hard wax / oil.
This piece reflects grOv’s commitment to sustainable craftsmanship, blending recycled materials with thoughtful design to create furniture that feels grounded, timeless, and one of a kind.
